What you've built matters more than credentials

What you'll build

Design and maintain a centralized automation infrastructure including end-to-end test frameworks, n8n workflow pipelines, and AppSmith internal dashboards. Lead the Rangers squad to scale these capabilities across twelve engineering teams while standardizing AI-assisted development practices.

What they're looking for

A hands-on technical leader who treats automation as a product and possesses deep experience in both traditional QA engineering and modern low-code workflow orchestration. You must be an AI-native practitioner capable of mentoring others and evangelizing a culture of efficiency across the organization.

  • ***About the role****

The Senior Automation Engineer has to build the automation capability that makes 12 squads faster, reduce manual toil across Operations and Support, and act as SarvaGram's AI enablement engine.

This role requires both technical depth (writing robust test automation, designing n8n workflows, building AppSmith dashboards) and the leadership presence to run a squad, run the AI bootcamp, and evangelise automation culture across the organisation. You are hands-on and strategic simultaneously.

  • ***Key responsibilities****
  • ***Squad Leadership****
  • Lead the Rangers squad - mentor and develop Automation Engineers, set technical direction, run sprints, and own delivery accountability to the Head of Engineering
  • Define and maintain Rangers' service catalogue - what automation capabilities the squad provides to other squads, how to request them, and the SLA for delivery
  • Grow Rangers' impact over time - identify automation opportunities across all twelve squads, prioritise them, and build the case for expanding Rangers' scope and capacity
  • Run the Week-1 AI Bootcamp for all new joiners - a structured introduction to Cursor, Claude, n8n, and AppSmith that gets every new engineer productive with AI tools from their first week
  • ***Test Automation - Coverage & Quality****
  • Design and own the test automation strategy for SarvaGram - what to automate, at what layer (unit, integration, UI, E2E), and how to maintain coverage as twelve squads ship continuously
  • Build and maintain the shared test automation framework - the tools, patterns, and standards that squad engineers use to write their own tests; Rangers enables, squads own
  • Implement AI-assisted test case generation - use Claude or equivalent to generate test cases from BRDs and user stories, reducing manual test writing time by 60%+
  • Own regression testing infrastructure - automated regression suites that run on every merge, catch regressions before production, and give engineers confidence to ship
  • Define test data management strategy - how test environments are seeded, how sensitive data is masked, and how data state is managed across automated test runs
  • ***n8n Workflow Automation****
  • Build and maintain n8n automations for Operations, Support, and internal engineering processes - loan status notification workflows, support ticket routing, sprint report generation, and data sync automations
  • Establish n8n governance - which workflows Rangers builds centrally versus which squads self-serve, versioning strategy, and monitoring for workflow failures
  • Identify and prioritise the highest-value automation opportunities across all twelve squads - what manual processes cost the most time and carry the highest error risk
  • Build the n8n template library - reusable workflow patterns that squads can fork and customise without starting from scratch
  • ***AppSmith Internal Tooling****
  • Build and maintain AppSmith dashboards and internal tools - the self-service tooling that Operations, Support, and Analytics teams use to query data, trigger actions, and manage workflows without engineering involvement
  • Establish AppSmith governance - access control, data source connections, and the standards that ensure internal tools are secure and maintainable
  • Build the command-and-control dashboards that IT Admin and Support need to manage their day-to-day operations efficiently
  • Work with the Analytics squad to build AppSmith-based EWS and portfolio health dashboards for field officers and collection managers
  • ***AI Enablement Across the Organisation****
  • Own SarvaGram's AI tooling standards - Cursor configuration, Claude API usage patterns, prompt engineering best practices, and the AI Acceptable Use Policy for engineering
  • Run the Week-1 AI Bootcamp for every new joiner - hands-on sessions with Cursor, Claude, n8n, and AppSmith; by the end of Week 1 every new engineer has shipped something using AI tools
  • Identify AI automation opportunities across squads - where Claude can assist with BRD generation, ADR drafting, sprint reporting, code review summarisation, or documentation
  • Act as the internal consultant for AI tool adoption - when squads want to integrate AI into their workflows, Rangers designs the pattern and enables the implementation

### Requirements

  • ***Professional experience****
  • 5 to 8 years in test automation and engineering automation, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior individual contributor role
  • Has built end-to-end test automation frameworks from scratch - not just added tests to an existing framework; understands architecture, maintenance, and the trade-offs between test coverage and test speed
  • Has used n8n, Zapier, or equivalent workflow automation tools in production - built workflows that real operations teams depend on daily
  • Active AI tool user - uses Claude or equivalent for automation work today; has experience with AI-assisted test generation or automation design
  • Experience running or facilitating technical training sessions is a meaningful plus - the AI bootcamp requires confidence in front of a group
  • ***Mindset & Soft Skills********/**** ****Who You Are****
  • Automation evangelist sees manual work as a bug to fix - proactively identifies toil and proposes automation solutions without waiting to be asked
  • Squad leader  should be  comfortable owning delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and making prioritisation decisions under ambiguity
  • AI-native practitioner reaches for Claude before opening a blank file, models the AI-augmented engineering practice that team is responsible for spreading
  • Platform thinker builds automation as shared infrastructure - reusable, documented, and maintained, not one-off scripts
  • ***Technical Skills****
  • ***Test Automation - Core****

Selenium / Playwright / Cypress & API test automation (Postman / RestAssured)

Python or JavaScript for test frameworks & CI/CD test integration

Test data management  & Performance testing (JMeter / k6)

  • ***Automation Tools - Core****

n8n workflow automation  & AppSmith (or equivalent no-code/low-code)

REST API integration & Webhook design

Automation governance

  • ***AI Native - Core Expectation****

Claude / ChatGPT for test generation & AI-assisted automation design

Cursor for development & Prompt engineering for automation

AI bootcamp facilitation

  • ***Good to haves****

Squad leadership experience & Fintech or NBFC context

Selenium Grid / BrowserStack & JIRA / Linear test management

LoadRunner / Gatling
