POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Scientist, Energy Intelligence helps accelerate Wyse’s energy intelligence strategy — harvesting data into actionable insight and workflows that create value on both sides of the business: for our clients, and across Wyse’s own operations. This newly created role will be critical in shaping this discipline of converting metered reality into decisions that grow portfolio value and improve the resident experience.This is a strategic mandate driving Wyse’s energy intelligence work, co-building the future of submetering enabled by emerging AI technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Ideation, Business Discovery & Opportunity Development

  • Analyze business processes to identify where energy data or AI can improve outcomes.
  • Prioritize opportunities based on business value, feasibility, and client impact.
  • Build working prototypes quickly and put them in front of real users and advance them into production.
  • Turn consumption and operational data into product features.
  • Drive research and development of energy efficiency modeling across Wyse’s Canadian portfolio — building the analytical backbone that turns metered data into efficiency gains and program outputs.

Energy Intelligence & Analytics

  • Analyze and model building energy performance, efficiency, ESG for client portfolios
  • Analyze utilityintervaland billing data across client portfolios.
  • Develop benchmarking and performance models for buildings.
  • Identify conservation, cost reduction, and decarbonization opportunities.
  • Support incentive applications and technical documentation.
  • Create portfolio-level insights that can be incorporated into Wyse products.

AI & Product Development

  • Build proof-of-concept AI applications using LLMs and automation tools.
  • Design workflows that automate repetitive operational tasks.
  • Prototype internal tools for operations and customer support teams.
  • Work with developers to transition successful prototypes into production.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies for practical business applications.

Client Solutions

  • Participate in client meetings to understand business objectives.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations.
  • Support sales and account management with technical expertise.
  • Translate complex technical analyses into executive-level insights.
  • Help shape new client offerings based on market needs.
  • Co-lead the advancement of driving revenue growth on the client side and lifting effectiveness and quality of work inside Wyse

Internal Innovation

  • Develop repeatable analytical methodologies.
  • Standardize reporting and data models.
  • Evaluate new data sources.
  • Help establish best practices for AI and analytics.
  • Mentor teams on new tools and approaches.
  • Co-lead the design and development of Wyse’ Energy Intelligence platform as well as internal AI-driven innovation.
  • Work with teams across the business to identify the highest-leverage opportunities — the recurring opportunities worth intelligent action.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Energy management

  • A recognized energy credential — P.Eng., Engineer, Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), or Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
  • Hands-on energy modeling and building simulation, with fluency in industry tools
  • Working knowledge of Canadian energy codes and standards — NECB and the National Building Code — and how performance is measured against them
  • Familiarity with utility consumption data: interval/metered data, load profiles
  • Understanding of energy efficiency and decarbonization levers across a building portfolio
  • Ability to translate modeling outputs into program-grade documentation and attestations

AI & building

  • Experience with low-code / no-code platforms for rapid application building
  • Familiarity with LLM tooling and prompt engineering — you know how to get reliable output from frontier models
  • Working with agent frameworks and multi-step automated workflows
  • Connecting AI to data
  • (A plus) familiarity with coding, Python, others

WORKING CONDITIONS
